The drive to West Virginia was long and very hilly. I was apparently either very tired, very distracted by my book or having some major blonde moments because at one point I asked why a truck was going to slow because we were going downhill to which my hubby responded "We're driving up a mountain." Yeah, apparently my book was that good that I had no idea what was going on around me.
So much humidity that the windows started fogging up! |
We stayed at a Country Club/Spa in West Virginia and on Thursday the plan had been for me to go to the spa and treat myself to a relaxing day. Well let's just say, that didn't happen. On Thursday the weather was TERRIBLE and since I didn't have a car it made it difficult to get to the spa because I was not walking a mile there in thunderstorms and when the weather channel said there was a chance of hail. So I ended up spending the day hanging out in our room applying for jobs and of course working on my blog/catching up on blog reading.
By the time M finished with work on Thursday things were clearing up so he took me to Heston's Farm for dinner. Heston's is a winery/distillery in West Virginia and had I not known where we were going I would have thought that M was taking me back into the woods to kill me or something because this place is seriously in the middle of nowhere! You drive down this windy road and then all of a sudden out of the blue you see the place. We had a delicious dinner in their restaurant before heading over to the tasting room to taste some of their wines and whiskeys.

Everything Tastes Better in a Mason Jar! |
After our tasting and after of course purchasing some wine and whiskey to bring home with us we headed outside to listen to some live music. It was such a relaxing and fun night with the hubby... just what we needed!
West Virginia was definitely a good time and I would like to go back at some point when we can do a little more sightseeing and hopefully have better weather!
Friday afternoon we headed out to Pittsburgh for my little's wedding! Of course I had to snap a few pictures of the beautiful views on our way there too!
Have you ever been on a work trip and gotten to see some great local spots?
By the way, today I am linking up with Meg over at Life of Meg for Mingle Monday!!
I would have to agree - everything does taste better out of a mason jar!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from Meg's Mingle Monday...and a new follower :)
I'm ready to get the mason jar with an owl on it that my mom bought me. Sadly she just want give it to me but yet I"m sure it taste better in a mason jar. Just like coke taste better in the glass bottle.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics by the way.
No shame in getting lost in a book on a car ride. But aren't the mountains beautiful?
