Currently... in January

Today I am linking up with Becky over at Choose Happy for her "Currently" series. This series is all about sharing what we are currently up to and finding ways to encourage and support each other!  I am super excited to participate and look forward to participating in the future.

This month we are talking about what we are currently... //thinking about //loving //reading //planning //baking //thankful for

//thinking about ... what I want to do with my life.  I'm 30. Haven't started my career yet. And a this point I don't even know what I really want to do.  Am I happy I went to law school... absolutely!  Do I know if I want to practice law at this point in my life... not so sure anymore.  I have been toying with the idea of going back to school for my Master's in Higher Education Administration so that I can work for a University.  I have been toying with the idea of doing something sales related.  I have been toying with the idea of restaurant management.  There is just so much going on in my head and I don't know where to begin.  What I do know is I have student loans from law school to pay back, Mark and I would like to buy a house in the near future, and we would like to eventually start a family... and all that means that I need to figure out what I want to do sometime in the near future.

//loving... that I got to spend a fun Monday night at home with Mark last night!  I can't remember the last time that the two of us had a night that was just us hanging out and being just us.  Last night we cooked dinner together, split a few bottles of wine and caught up on some of our DVR'd TV shows.  It was seriously the most perfect Monday night and I wish we had more time to have nights like that where it is just the two of us getting to spend time together.

// reading ... Little Women as part of the Blogger 2 Blogger Book club... this was of course last month's book and I haven't even started this month's book because I refuse to give up on Little Women.  I am one of those people that no matter how much I have trouble getting into a book I ALWAYS finish it and Little Women will be no exception to that!

//planning ... our 2015 Super Bowl Party!  Every year Mark and I host a Super Bowl Party where we have some of our favorite people over and this year will be no exception!

// baking ... The last thing I baked was a collaboration with my mom and it was my dad's 60th birthday cake.  Mom made the cake, I made the icing, and then all three kids (Mark, my little brother and I) attempted to get the cake out of the pans so I could ice it.  Let's just say that Mother Sandford's cake ended up being a disaster yet again... none of us can make it like my Gram does, but it doesn't stop us from trying!

// thankful for ... all of the amazing people in my life.  I know that no matter what life throws at me I have an amazing support system of friends, family and co-workers in my life.

What is currently going on in  your life?

  1. I want to come to your Superbowl party!!!!!! And honestly the only way I got through Little Women ever was because my mom read it to me when I was young and did different voices and sound effects.....major kudos to you for keeping on it!

  2. Awww, Little Women is one of my favorite books! I probably read it 10 times as a kid/teen. I have even read it to my daughter twice before she was in 2nd grade! I can sympathize on not know what you want to "do" career wise. We have moved so much for my husbands career that it hasn't allowed me to settle on anything, I do wish you luck that way it isn't easy. Go for something you love because doing something you love as your career will get you everywhere. My husband left law for video games and it was the best decision he has ever made.

    1. I just could not get in to Little Women...and I LOVED the movie and usually love classic books. I don't know what it was about this one that I just couldn't do it. Thanks for the well wishes on the job search! Still haven't found anything, but everyone keeps saying that something good will come my way!!

  3. All of this sounds wonderful! Totally understand the "thinking about" part. While I'm not quite at the same point you are in life, I still think about some of the same things. With my job search starting to speed up and as I get more serious about it, lots of things come to mind. It's terrifying and exciting all at the same time! That cake looks delicious, too. Happy Wednesday!

    1. Job searching is no spring picnic. It definitely gives me major anxiety and I wish I had more of an idea of where I am going to go in life. And the cake was delicious... doesn't look as pretty as it does when Gram makes it, but hey, it was made with love!

  4. Your meal looks absolutely incredible! Yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How fun! YAY for a Super Bowl party!! It's so hard now that we have kids to do parties, because it gets so late.

Thank you for joining up with me! Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks for hosting such a fun link-up!! I will definitely be participating in the future! I am super excited for our Super Bowl party... one of the reasons we host is because we don't have kids, but our friends do. This way they can come and go as they please but don't have to worry about having a million people at their house when they are trying to put their kids to bed!
