Almost every 4th of July since I can remember I have headed with the family to Ocean Grove, NJ for some family time to celebrate America's Birthday... as well as my Gram's birthday!! Yup, that's right my grandma shares the same birthday as America, so as long as I can remember we have been celebrating the 4th of July for many reasons. Ocean Grove puts on a pretty good parade for the 4th and then of course there are the fireworks... oh how I love the fireworks! One of the cool things about watching the fireworks at the Jersey shore is that we would sit on the board walk in Ocean Grove and would be able to see the fireworks for all the surrounding towns... always so amazing!
Ocean Grove has such a cool story... it has always been a very religious town... in fact even in the 70s they would gate off the roads to the town and no one could drive on Sundays. It is a dry town. Everything pretty much centers around the church and The Great Auditorium. In the summers the tent houses go up lining the sides of the Auditorium and it is quite a site to see. The houses are supposed to be Victorian style and if someone wants to so much as change the paint color of their house they have to get approval to do it. Some people may find Ocean Grove to be boring, but I just find it to be such a quaint place that I LOVE spending time. There is nothing better than walking around the streets looking at all the houses, talking a walk on the board walk, or spending time on the beach.
SO without further ado, today I am throwing it back to some 4th of July celebrations in Ocean Grove, NJ!
What do you do for the 4th of July?
Where we go to watch fireworks, its just like you mentioned above. We can sit and see them all around, and they blast them off from the boats and levees on the river so they are literally right above you.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your 4th!
